Whale Rock Lodge, with its thick, heavy thatch, gleaming white facade and glowing woodwork is undoubtedly one of the most attractive buildings in Hermanus and has an air of welcome, warmth and well being. Close to the New Harbour, within sight and smell of the sea, the Lodge is but a few minutes drive from the centre of Hermanus. Here can be found endless beaches, incomparable cliff paths, famous vineyards, vast varieties of birdlife and, of course, during the months of July - November, hugely lolling whales.
The Lodge has eleven individually decorated and pamperingly appointed en-suite bedrooms, a help-yourself bar in the fire-lit sitting room and offers a full buffet breakfast served overlooking the swimming pool, koi ponds and gardens. A visit to this beautiful place ensures a tranquil and memorable holiday.
Accommodation & Facilities
Whale Rock Lodge has 11 double bedrooms all with en suite bathroom, with bath and separate shower. Some rooms have twin three quarter beds, some queen size beds and some king size beds. All bedrooms have their own outside entrance onto the gardens. Each room is equipped with colour television, fan, hairdryer, telephone and safe. We offer room service tea and coffee between the hours of 7.00am and 8.00pm.
There is a fully stocked help-yourself bar in the sitting room for guests' convenience and a full buffet English breakfast is served in the breakfast room between the hours of 8.30am and 10.00am.
The gardens at Whale Rock are extensive and beautifully maintained, we have the largest salt water swimming pool in Hermanus and water features and fish ponds abound. The entire property is walled and gated and we offer secure parking for our guests.
Outdoor Facilities
The New Harbour is a three minute walk away from the Lodge as is the cliff path for which Hermanus is famous. From here can be viewed the Southern Right whale between the months of July and November. The town centre is a five minute drive away and offers wonderful shopping, a movie house and a variety of excellent and diverse restaurants. Other activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, mountain biking, hiking, birding, Great White Shark diving, fishing and whale watching are on offer and can be arranged for you at Reception. Hermanus also has a magnificent 18 hole golf course and the championship Arabella golf course is but a 20 minute drive away.

There is a 50% surcharge on the above rates for a single person occupying a double room.
We do not accept children under the age of 6 years and children between the ages of 6 and 14 years sharing with their parents are charged R100,00 each per night including breakfast.
Children over the age of 14 years must have their own room at the full rate.
We have three seasons - High Season from October to April, Low Season from May to July and Mid Season from August to September. The above rates are approximate - please check directly with us for up to date information on current rates. |
