Gonubie is 7 minutes away from East London.

Accommodation & Facilities
STEENBRAS LODGE is a SELF-CATERING HOME with 4 bedrooms and can sleep 7 to 9 people.
The large main bedroom is en suite with DSTV. There are 2 bedrooms with double beds that share a fully bathroom and separate toilet. The "PAD" down stairs has a single bed with a double sleeper coach in it. There is a kichenette with a fridge and microwave in the PAD and a shower/toilet at the entrance. The LOUNGE and DINNING room are open plan leading on to a DECK. From the spaceous, fully equiped KITCHEN and coffee "nook" the views are spectacular. The scullery has a washing mashine and there is a DOUBLE GARAGE with secure parking. Table tennis is provided for rainy days. The garden is secure and pets are welcome with 1 KENNEL provided. Sporting & Leisure Activities  
STEENBRAS LODGE has a wonderful FISHING reserve across the street with good fishing spots. Walk the dog or paddle in the pools along the beach infront. The BLUE FLAGGED BEACH is 5 km away with good swimming in the surf, lagoon or tidal pool. Ideal for children as life guards are always on duty. The surfing is good and Nahoon beach in East London is excellant for more waves. DEEPSEA FISHING and SCUBBER DIVING is offered from East London a mere 7 minutes drive away. The Gonubie GOLF course is round the corner and the EAST LONDON GOLF COURSE is one of the best in South Africa with scenic views and buck grasing on the fairways. The LION PARK is a 30 minute drive away with WHITE LION, wild dogs, cheeters, girraff and tigers. INKWENKWEZI a GAME CAMP is a "MUST" visit with a resturant that boasts the biggest hamburgers on wednesdays and a magnificent Buffer Lunch on Sundays. Gonubie is bird watching territory with its own BIRD SANCTUARY.  

Cultural & Historical interest   
Gonubie is a Quiet village with folk who are sea and nature lovers. The language spoken is mixed with English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. You will even hear the odd German word spoken.
The sea is protected by being a fish reserve and a licence must be purchased from the local post office before you go fishing. Our beach is a BLUE FLAGGED BEACH with good swimming and life guards on duty. There is a BIRD SANCTUARY for a quiet time out and good walks along the coast.
