Self-catering accommodation for 2 – 6 people, Sandstone Cottage nestles high up on the sand dune which forms part of the Karbonkelberg Nature Reserve. It has the most breathtaking unobstructed mountain and valley views and is within walking distance of the ocean. You can either amble to Hout Bay beach, swim, relax and explore the Harbour and its many restaurants or hike over the dunes to Sandy Bay with champagne and a picnic and watch a magnificent sunset. For those more fit and adventurous, you can hire horses and ride to either of these beaches.
Accommodation & Facilities
All accommodation leads out to a large salt water rock pool with a waterfall, the sound of which calms the weariest of travelers. The lovely garden is a safe place for your children to play. Swim away the cares of life as you watch the mountains slowly turn pink while the sun sets.
This is when you can make use of the private, natural stone outdoor shower before going to your apartment with its sheltered verandah and built-in braai (barbeque). The lights in the valley below begin to twinkle and the sky’s kaleidoscope of colour disappears. Its now time to relax and enjoy a good bottle of South African wine. As the stars come out and the moon hangs suspended in the sky put on one of the CDs available in your apartment and experience one of the most romantic moments of your life in Africa.
If you're visiting during our lush green winter months and the weather turns grey and cold, don't despair. Two fireplaces, one in the downstairs bedroom and one in the upstairs lounge, plus ample supplies of wood and wine will soon warm you up.
Watch the valley below disappear into a thick white cloud as the flames flicker in the grate. It's a cosy and tranquil season and a good time to make use of our library of videos and fascinating novels.
