Rose Cottage Gariep Dam is situated half way between Johannesburg and Cape Town and is only 5 minutes from the N1 highway.
It is an ideal pit-stop for the weary guest simply wanting to break their journey to have a single night sleepover or for the guest wanting to spend some extra days enjoying what the beautiful Gariep Dam and village and surrounding area has to offer.

Gariep Dam is just 44 kilometers from Colesberg and is South Africa's largest dam, in the heart of the country
The Dam is South Africas largest and boasts some of the best Watersports, Yachting and Fishing. Aviation facilities are superb, including two tarred & well maintained runways on an uncontrolled airport, with hangers available. A Microlite & Gyro paradise.
Annually in December, the Dam hosts an international Glider championship which attracts a worldwide attendance.
Nearby there are two game reserves, and the the dam has the usual amenities, including 2 olympic size swimming pools, camping and hiking, put-put, tennis courts, bowling green, banks, bars and restaurants.

Rose Cottage is acknowledged as the premier self catering establishment in the area with some guests giving the Cottage a 4 Star rating and other guests claiming it’s the best value for money guesthouse in South Africa.
All units have TV’s with a DSTV decoder, only the 4 SABC channels are active
Rose Cottage is divided into 3 separate independent structures namely
Hammerkop which can accommodate 8 guests. Hammerkop consists of 2 separate bedrooms, 2 single beds in each room and 2 double sleeper couches in the double size lounge. Shower with basin and a separate toilet, large fully equipped kitchen and small dining room. The double size lounge consists of a T.V (DSTV available but you must bring own Smart Card), DVD Player, Hi-Fi and a sliding door that leads to the long Stoep, garden, swimming pool, braai and 8 seater Lapa. Samsung air conditioners in both bedrooms and lounge.
Rooibekkie our Granny Flat which can accommodate 2. Consists of 2 single beds that form a double bed with an open plan fully equipped kitchen, T.V (DSTV available but you must bring own Smart Card) and an on-suite bathroom. The bathroom consists of a bath, toilet and basin. Have its own private braai area and a quaint 2 seater, romantic “Lapa”. Samsung air conditioner in the open plan bedroom.
Swallow which can accommodate 4. It consists of 2 separate bedrooms. The main bedroom consists of a double bed and an on-suite bathroom (shower, basin & toilet) and the 2nd bedroom consists of 2 single beds with an open plan kitchen, dining room, Hi-Fi, T.V (DSTV available but you must bring own Smart Card) and 2 sliding doors that leads out to the private braai, 4 seater Lapa and a private bathroom (shower and toilet only). Samsung air conditioner in the second bedroom only.
Rates are inclusive of electricity, linen, towels, toiletries and coffee/tee/sugar in each unit. All guests have access to the garden, swimming pool and secure undercover parking.

Gariep area was the centre of the famous Boer concentration camp where thousands died during the Anglo Boer war.
