Eclectic selections of shapes, textures and colours offers the guest at Nguni River Lodge luxurious accommodation in seven double guest suites and one King suite.
It is the Xhosa people that traditionally inhabit the hills and coastline of the Eastern Cape and for this reason the exquisite architecture of Nguni River Lodge are both perceptive of the Xhosa cultural and environmental conservation. The suites are all named after the colour patterns of the Nguni cattle breed and the elegant interior décor follow modern trends by using the Nguni skins as the base colours for creating individually styled private guest suites. Each suite boasts private plunge pools and balconies overlooking the river and floodplain below. The romantic bathrooms with its huge stone bath and outdoor shower share the same views and sightings of animals can be seen from the privacy and comfort of your own room.
Guests can experience the delights of the lodge’s hospitality at its well stocked bar, enjoy a relaxed chat in the lounge, or assist with the preparation of African cuisine in the interactive kitchen. Outdoor Facilities
Experience a world of extreme bio-diversity. Addo Elephant National Park is about to become the only wildlife park in the world where you can view the African Big seven in their natural environment. With the expansion of the park you will be able to see the big five plus whales and great white sharks, all in one great park comprising of a 240 000 hectare terrestrial zone and a 120 000 hectare marine zone.
Africa’s abundant wildlife is without a doubt the main attraction at Nguni River Lodge. Guided game drives on open land rovers and walks led by professional rangers offer close encounters with the Big Five and hundreds of smaller animals, birds and reptile species can be spotted with the help of an informed eye, quite body and patient mind. Every sound, scent, footprint or broken blade of grass is a sign waiting to be explored by many a keen nature lover. Nguni River Lodge offers the bird watchers 240 species of birds and the adventurer, such activities as elephant back safaris.

Cultural & Historical interest   
The name Nguni refers to a collective group of people who migrated form Central Africa south in search of gracing for their cattle and eventually settled along the eastern seaboard and adjacent hinterland of Southern Africa. This group divided into three broad divisions based on linguistic and cultural differences and comprise of the Zulu, Swazi and Xhosa, which account for about 60 percent of the Bantu speaking people of South Africa. Today it is the ancestral cattle breed that carries the Nguni name. The Nguni cattle breed is endemic to Southern Africa and is known for their fertility and resistance to diseases and characterized by multicolored skins.
