Manor on the Bay is a 12 en-suite room Guest House situated on the beach of peaceful Gordon’s Bay. High ceilings, magnificent unsurpassed mountain and sea-view, a massage room and the private wine-cellar adds to the elegance of this historic, 1862 manor. The mountain stream, swimming pool, oaks and palm-trees add to the tranquillity of the unspoiled garden.
Schalk and Hanél invite you to come and experience South African hospitality at the log-fire in the Sir Alfred Beit lounge .
The spacious uniquely decorated bedrooms all have private entrances, M-Net, satellite TV, mini-bars & coffee/tea facilities, safes, air-conditioning (dual), sea-view and some have a fireplace. 2 Rooms are 100% wheelchair friendly.
A traditional English- and health breakfast is served. Conference facilities for small groups are available.
Quality restaurants are within walking distance and golf courses, hiking trails and shopping malls are easily accessible. Scuba diving, sunset cruises, picnics and tours to wine- and fruit farms will be arranged on request. Whale watching from the patio is possible between August and November.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are 12 spacious and uniquely decorated bedrooms with en suite shower/or baths to choose from. All rooms have modern conveniences such as safes, computer links, hairdryers, mini-bars television with M-Net and Satellite connection, air-conditioning and some have fireplaces.
Extra luxuries include toiletries, pure cotton linen, gowns, pool towels and laundry services.
Breakfast is served at the swimming pool or in the dining room. A snack menu is available throughout the day, while quality restaurants are within walking distance.
Manor on the Bay offers traditional braais and potjiekos and a rich array of South African cuisine from bobotie, to waterblommetjie-bredie and sweet koeksisters on request.

There is any number of activities to enjoy in and around Gordon’s Bay. Top class golf courses, hiking trails, shopping malls and more white beaches are all easily accessible to the visitor. For the active minded, horse-riding, scuba-diving, deep sea fishing trips, canoeing, paddling, surfskiing, rock climbing, cliff diving and abseiling are all just a stone’s throw away.
For those looking for a romantic weekend, picnic-baskets and sunset cruises can be arranged on request, or visitors can enjoy scenic drives along the coast or a tour of the 22 wine farms in the Helderberg area. Further afield Stellenbosch and Cape Town beg exploring and offer all the luxury of hot air balloon flights or helicopter flights over the winelands, as well as a trout and fly-fishing experiences.
Whale watching is possible from the patio of Manor on the Bay between the months of August and November.
