The Mpumalanga Lowveld, famed for its many spectacular vistas and untamed game reserves, is an exceptionally beautiful area, and it is here, near Hazyview, that a notable Country Lodge has been established. Peter and Mary Terry’s remarkable foresight and imagination immediately recognised the potential of the spot when Highgrove Farm came up for sale in 1989. This graceful inn on the edge of the escarpment was originally a chilli farm around the turn of the century, hacked from the savage bush and tenderly raised by one Colonel Wicks, whose presence may still be felt on still evenings. Today the crops are avocados and macadamia nuts. A fine hotel has been crafted by carefully restoring and transforming the old farmstead, adding delightful garden suites, and landscaping the immediate surroundings into gardens delicately flavoured by nature’s ambrosial scents.

Accommodation & Facilities
Accommodation is limited to sixteen guests in eight prestigious garden suites, each commanding sweeping views across the valley below, the plantations or the forest clad mountains . Bedrooms and bathrooms are magnificently appointed, and the adjoining sitting rooms have open log fires. The two orchard suites bask in intimate gardens, complete with outside showers, saunas and swimming pools.

Unwind and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of congeniality. Big log fires in winter and the aromas of good living –flowers, herbs, cooking and fine wines fill the air.
