Glen Cottage
Self Catering Accommodation
Kommetjie, Western Cape, South Africa |
|
‘Glen Cottage’ - the cutest little self-catering cottage in the Cape Peninsula – EVER! -
is a delightful fully renovated and immaculate fisherman-style, self-catering cottage, including, braai, gazebo, garage and pool, just three minutes’ walk from magnificent and internationally recognised Kommetjie Longbeach.
Kommetjie is a magical seaside village, with all necessary facilities close at hand and only 45 mins from Cape Town and the Waterfront and 60 mins from Cape Town International Airport.
You can watch the fishing boats come and go at Die Kom, take a walk to picturesque Slangkop lighthouse or visit the crayfish factory beyond. You can surf world famous waves, take endless wild beach walks and ride horses in the breakers. Several excellent restaurants are close at hand – Bistro Incognito, La Vie, Cobbs at Scarborough and Mnandi’s at Solole Game Reserve all offer good international and local cuisine – or, you can down a pint whilst scoffing scrumptious seafood at the village Fisherman’s Pub.
And you can stock up with all you need at Kommetjie Superette before going kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, hiking, or just down to the beach.
Serious shopping, at Longbeach Mall, is just 10 minutes down the road, including movies and internet café, whilst Clovelly Golf Club, Cape Point Nature Reserve, Constantia Wine Route and numerous characterful and delicious Kalk Bay and Simonstown restaurants are all about 20 mins away.
Accommodation & Facilities
Accommodation comprises comfortable sitting and dining room areas open-plan to well equipped, fully fitted kitchen; two double bedrooms (one with bunks), two bathrooms, and two further single beds on the enclosed verandah. The cottage sleeps six, but the kitchen caters for eight. Facilities include washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, TV with M-net and a radio/CD/tape player. The small, enclosed and private garden is charming and has a sparkling pool and safety net, shady gazebo with table and benches for outside dining, sun-loungers, sun umbrella, and built-in barbeque. There is also a remote-operated single garage.
We love this little cottage and everybody who has stayed here loves it, too. By day it’s a sheltered, restful haven in a beautiful and mellow setting, and at night the sea is sometimes so loud it’s as if you’re sleeping in the dunes.
