The Inn provides good food and friendly service either in the air conditioned restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the expansive grounds. Ghost Mountain Safaris offers a variety of activities including game and boat drives, cultural trips and horse rides while our Health Spa offers a range of pampering skin and body treatments.
For those travelling to southern Mozambique, or between Kruger Park, Swaziland and Durban, Ghost Mountain Inn makes an excellent stopover or memorable getaway.

Relax in one of our 52 comfortable en suite bedrooms complete with television, telephone and air conditioning or take in the golden African sunset from your very own garden patio. The Inn offers 32 Standard Rooms, 19 Executive Rooms and a spacious Suite.
Our Health centre offers an indoor gym and a steam room. While a variety of skin and body treatments are available in our treatment rooms. Enjoy the pool area or for the more active we have a tennis court and mountain bikes available for guest use.
We also cater for meetings and conferences in the Ndumo Conference Centre and Board Room with programmes tailor-made to suit any type of conference. For intimate Weddings, our lush garden sets the perfect country scene.
Outdoor Facilities
Situated in picturesque northern KwaZulu Natal, within easy reach of several game and coastal reserves in Maputaland and the Elephant Coast. This location allows for the exploration of many diverse activities and attractions, either as a self-drive, or with our Safari Company, which offers game drives, boat cruises, tiger fishing, acclaimed birding and cultural excursions.
Hike up Ghost Mountain and take in the heart stopping view of the Lebombo Mountain Range and the plains beyond. Nature lovers will enjoy the Mkhuze Game Reserve, where the range of wildlife includes both black and white rhino.
The area is a bird watcher’s paradise with the endemic Pinkthroated Twinspot, Rudd’s Apalis and Neergard’s Sunbird, among many other specials such as African Broadbill and Green malkoha. Enjoy a guided walk through the rare and unique giant sycamore fig forest and hear the haunting cries of the Trumpeter Hornbill echo through the treetops.
Cultural & Historical interest
"It is a great and strange Mountain. It is haunted also and named the Ghost Mountain, and on top of it is a grey peak rudely shaped like the head of an old woman." So wrote Rider Haggard in his book "Nada the Lily”
Ghost Mountain (Tshaneni) is both a traditional burial area for ancient tribes and the scene of the Battle of Tshaneni in 1884, making it a significant area in Zulu history. Walk and Cultural visits are offered by our guides.
