Our double storied thatched home nestles at the foot of a magnificent sandstone mountain in the far corner of the village of Clarens, twenty kilometers from the Golden Gate National Park. The wonderful sound of our trickling (and sometimes rushing) stream in the garden is a joy to both birds and guests alike. The many indigenous trees attract a wonderful variety of birds and sometimes buck, mongoose and porcupine. It is only a short walk away from the lake and start of a number of hiking trails over the mountain. The crisp, clean air, beautiful mountains, friendly inhabitants, make it a very special place. Clarens is a three hour trip from both Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. Durban is four and a half hours drive away. A scrumptious breakfast is served by your hosts, Barbara and Dave in the main dining room.
Accommodation & Facilities
We have three rooms at "Cottage Pie", all with their own entrances. One, a cabin in the garden next to the stream with a queen bed, shower en-suite and kitchenette. Another, upstairs, own outside wooden staircase, under thatch, has a queen bed, big old bath, tv and tea/coffee-making facilities. Directly below, our bedsitter has two single beds (pushed together if necessary) and a three quarter bed, kitchentte, shower and tv, patio.
Tea/coffee, towels, electric blankets, oil heaters, down duvets, hot water bottles in all rooms.
Our annex, called 'Sweetie Pie' is a little double storied self-catering cottage sleeping 4-6 in an enclosed 1500sq.mt. garden, closer to the centre of the village.

Bird-watching, hiking, horse riding, quad biking, absailing, golf, bowls, tennis, squash, trout fishing, pub-hopping and shopping.
