Cheerio Trout Fishing Lodge is situated in the heart of the Cheerio Valley in the beautiful mountains and forests of Magoebaskloof - home of the annual Spring azalea and cherry blossom fair and Autumn colour splendour. It is the perfect getaway for a restful break and is also an ideal stop over to the Kruger and other private game parks. It is less than 2 hours to either the Orpen or Phalaborwa gates of the Kruger Park. It is also situated within 5 minutes from Stanford Lake College (Independent boarding co-ed high school) and Stanford Lake (Outdoor Adventure) Centre.
Other attractions in the area are Ebenezer, Tzaneen, Dap Naude and Magoebaskloof dams, the Debengeni waterfalls, tea plantations, Woodbush and Agatha forest reserves, Modjadji cycad and tree fern forest - home of the Rain Queen, Wolkberg mountains and various hiking trails.
From December 2004, hikes, birding and adventure activities such as absailing, quad bike riding, kloofing, tubing etc. will be available on the other familly farm.
Accommodation & Facilities
Fully equipped selfcatering chalets and B&B rondavels are situated in beautiful gardens. Chalets all have different configurations and cater from 2 to 6 people. There is one 2 bed self catering chalet, one 4 bed and three 6 bed chalets. These all have fireplaces. There are three 2 bed B&B rondavels. All units have braai facilities.
Trout fishing is available in 3 dams and river fishing is also available on another family owned farm. Facilities include a swimming pool, tennis court, table tennis and darts. Scenic walks, birding and mountain biking can take place from your doorstep. Horse riding, 4X4 trails and golf are available in close proximity. Adventure sports will be available from December 2004.
Sporting & Leisure Activities
In addition to fishing on the property, river fishing can be arranged by the lodge on its other property or through the Haenertsburg Trout Association. Boating is available on the Ebenezer and Tzaneen (Fanie Botha) dams. Horse riding is available in the village and there are golf courses at Polokwane, Duiwelskloof and Phalaborwa (Hans Merensky Game Reserve course).
The area lends itself to mountain biking with two major races taking place each year. For the less energetic there are numerous farm roads and trails to cycle or walk. There are national hiking trails in the area and numerous spots to have a picnic.

Pricing is per chalet per night. The prices for the B&B rondavels include breakfast. Peak season is during school holidays and in September/October over the period of the Spring Fair.
