Buchan Estate offers accommodation in thatched cottages with high beamed ceilings, tranquil views and furnished with touches of Africa. Set in 3 acres of paddocks and gardens, the estate is surrounded by mountains and trees with a river running through the property.

There are only 3 cottages and each one enjoys uninterrupted views of the mountains surrounding Hout Bay. All have a private patio, modern fitted kitchen, TV, DVD, internet access, satellite and are fully serviced. For a romantic getaway our honeymoon cottage has a king size four poster bed, sweeping mosquito nets and African stone bath. A conference room is also available with antique mahogany furniture and paintings.

Guests are free to roam and explore the extensive grounds and enjoy full use of the heated pool and sauna. In the evenings enjoy a drink by the river banks and see the host of bird life at home in our grounds.

Breakfast can be provided in a breakfast hamper delivered to your cottage, packed with fresh produce and home baking. Guests can also enjoy a range of relaxation therapies, an evening cooking service after a busy day and for those with children there is an excellent baby-sitting service.

Tucked under the eaves and hidden by the huge weeping willow is the large lounge area that all guests enjoy access to. With a fully stocked honesty bar guests are invited to enjoy a glass of chilled wine and gaze over the valley, or to have a leisurely game of pool and a cold beer.

Accommodation & Facilities
The three cottages are all private and secluded and enjoy uninterrupted views of the mountains and river. All three have full kitchen facilities including oven, microwave, fridge, and modern appliances. There is a wireless internet connection in each cottage (wireless cards are available to borrow), satellite TV and DVD.

Each one enjoys its own private patio area with garden furniture and a braai is available. All beds are modern and luxurious and the Laird and Ghillie have a double sleeper couch in the lounge area. A starter hamper is included in the price consisting of fresh ground coffee, tea, milk and sugar, salt and pepper.

deep sea fishing, fly fishng, sea kayaking, charter cruises, shark cage diving, scuba diving and jet skiing.

Hiking and horseriding are also available in Hout Bay as there are many trails and mountains paths to be explored.

The Constantia wine route begins only 10 minutes away, which can be enjoyed by bike or by vehicle.

Hout Bay is essentially a suburb of Cape Town. It is a small working fishing village set in a beautiful valley and surrounded by mountains and forests on all sides, with a vast array of indigenous flora and fauna.

The area of Hout Bay attracts thousands of visitors each year as it offers a small seaside town in the heart of a big city. With its own white sandy beach, famous harbour and marina, and its own boutique shops and restaurants, Hout Bay is an ideal destination for a visit to Cape Town. The V & A Waterfront is only 20 minutes drive and the airport is half an hour.
