Situated in the heart of Simon's Town, overlooking the historic harbour and False Bay, the gracious British Hotel Apartments offer a unique peaceful and relaxing holiday experience
1818 Built and owned by Mr. William Hurter as a private residence.
1830 Owned by Mr. John Clarence and converted into "The Clarence Hotel".
1841 Taken over by Mr. H. Green and advertised in the Government Gazette as "The British Hotel".
1897 Building was completely destroyed by a fire and rebuilt to a design by Architect John Parker.
1898 Construction was completed and called "British Hotel". During the days of the Royal Navy it was utilized mostly by families of Naval personnel arriving from England. Until 1968 it was also one of the most popular pubs in Simon's Town. Famous people like Cecil Rhodes and Mary Kingsley stayed at the Hotel. Mary Kingsley had a room at the British Hotel while she nursed Boer Prisoners during the South Africa war. When she died of typhus in June 1900, she was buried at sea with full military honours.
1994-1999 Upgrading and renovation work by Resnekov + Nielsen have given the building an authentic Victorian look. The old British Hotel has been restored to its original glory and converted into four large self-catering apartments.
Accommodation & Facilities
The British Hotel Apartments offer you a choice of four very spacious, self-catering Deluxe apartments. Each apartment has a large balcony overlooking the False Bay coast.
LuxuriousDeluxe, New loft Apartments and Suites
Each self-catering apartment comprises of 2/3 bedrooms
with double or twin beds and two bathrooms with bath
and separate shower. The open-plan kitchens are fully
equipped and the adjoining dining and living rooms lead onto
the balconies which have spectacular sea views. The two
top floor apartments are built in loft style, with the main
en-suite bedroom upstairs.
The apartments can easily accommodate up to 6 people
and are ideal for families with children. Children are
welcome and cots are available on request.
New loft apartments are 2 bedroomed and will sleep 4 people ,
they are equipted with a bar fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.
They are decorated with new and old vitorian style, it has its own terrance with mountain views.
The suites each comprise of a twin bedroom,
bathroomand a small sitting room overlooking the idyllic
courtyard. Coffee and tea making facilities are available
in the room.
All accommodation is serviced daily.

Cape Point: The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve is one of the world's great tourist destinations. The reserve offers stunning hiking and cycling trails, picnic spots, a restaurant with spectacular views and breathtaking scenery.
Cape Point Ostrich Farm: Visit the productive ostrich show farm opposite the entrance to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.
Boulders: Penguins and Whale watching. Nestled in sandy coves between Simon's Town and Cape Point, Boulders Beach
Sporting & Leisure Activities
Cycling around the Cape peninsula is very popular as the Argas and the Two Ocean Cycle tour use this route.
Nearby is the famous beach of Boulders Beach home of the world renowned Penguin Collony other well known beaches are St. James, Fish Hoek and Muizenberg. Enjoy the pleasures of swimming in the warm Indian Ocean or have fun with a variety of water sport activities in the area:

We are close to many hiking trails around the Cape Peninsula walks up to the old forts in S.Town, Waterfalls, Up to Just Nuisance grave a famous dog that lived in Simon's Town with the sailors and became a Sailor so that he would be granted a ticket to travel on the trains with the sailors.
Its every ones dream to ride on a horse on the beach well you can, spoil your selfs and book a sun set ride on the beach for 2 hours.
Cultural & Historical interest
Jubilee Square in 1880, when it was still known as Market Square. (It was the market where farmers in the area came to sell their produce.) Children from the Muslim School plant a palm on Jubilee Square in 1935 for the Silver Jubilee of George V. Each school in the town planted a palm on Jubilee Square (and its name dates from this occasion.)
Chapman's Peak
Originally known as the "Hout Bay-Noorde Hoek Road" Chapman's Peak Drive was built using convict labour provided by the newly formed Union government.
The main force behind the construction of Chapman's Peak Drive was Sir Frederic de Waal, the first Administrator of the Cape
