Located on the slopes of Muizenberg Mountain, halfway between Table Mountain and Cape Point, Bluebottle Guesthouse is
the ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

whilst breathing fresh mountain air and taking in stunning views of the bay.

we will ensure your stay is a comfortable and memorable one.
The first impression you have upon entering is one of abundant space and light.
Floor to ceiling glass on two walls, gives you a breathtaking panoramic view
from Cape Point accross the entire bay to Cape Hangklip on the opposite shore;
and creates a wonderful ambience in which you can relax and unwind.
Lovely knotty pine floors run throughout the house, complimented by
wonderful antique peices that grace the hallways and living areas.
Food always tastes better when you can enjoy it in a relaxed and beautiful setting.
Our dining area looks out over the bay through three large sliding doors, which open out onto the lower balcony.
On calm sunny days we can move the tables outside, onto the balcony,
so that you can enjoy your breakfast in the fresh sea air and watch the whales frolicing in the bay. Classical music in the background and the smell of freshly brewed coffee
make this space all the more inviting.
Accommodation & Facilities
Each of our four rooms is beautiful and spacious, and most importantly, each is furnished with
a comfortable king-size bed with an orthopeadic mattress to ensure a good night's sleep.
All of the rooms are situated on the upper level, and have direct access
to the upper balcony through sliding doors. The sea and lake views are magnificent;
truly wonderful for gazing into the distance and letting yourself unwind.
Our two kitchens both have superb fittings and are luxuriously spacious.
The downstairs kitchen flows off the lounge and dining area, and is used to prepare breakfast each morning.
The upper kitchen is available for the guests to use to make tea & coffee, to purchase items from the honesty bar,
to store groceries in the fridge or to prepare food.
Outdoor Facilities
Indigenous fynbos, specific to the mountainous regions of the Cape,
attracts a wealth of insect and bird life to our garden.
Andrew's interest in and collecting of butterflies, has grown into a wider awareness
of the intricate relationships between plant, insect and animal life.
This garden is truly a work in progress, and is sure to become more enchanting each time you visit us
Sporting & Leisure Activities
There are wonderful tourist destinations in close proximity; such as the Cape Point Nature Reserve, the penguins at Boulders Beach, the famous Cape winelands, Kirstenbosch botanical gardens, Simons Town Naval Base and many more.
The guesthouse is situated in close proximity to a wide variety of excellent shops
and restaurants,and a five minute walk from the beach.
There is a fabulous 1.6km walkway from Muizenberg to St James along the water’s edge. Benches have been conveniently placed to allow you to sit, relax & enjoy the view along the way. Walks for the more ambitious hikers start from Boyes Drive, just above the guesthouse and wind through pristine tracts of fynbos, up the Muizenberg Mountains. Hike up to the famous Kalk bay caves or scout up through the Steenberg plateau. We do supply picnic lunches on request.
This is the place to be if you're into your watersports, wether on the ocean or lake. From surfing, paddleskiing, canoeing, windsurfing, waveskiing, kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, - you name it, it's here. There are also top surf and dive schools in the area.
Fishing Cruises are available for big game fishing, or smaller boats can be arranged to take you out for a lazy day's catch. There are also prime fishing spots along the walkway from Muizenberg to St James - a favourite amongst local fisherman.
Whale watching ...and you don't even need to leave the guesthouse! Relax on the balcony and watch them frolicking in the bay, oor for a closer look, why not make your way down to one of the lovely restaurants on the water's edge.
Muizenberg is flanked by two of the Capes most popular golf courses, Clovely & Westlake.
The scenery is breathtaking as you wind along the coast, why not do a bit of the famous Argus route while you're about it? Mountain biking trails can found in the area too, so for an off road adventure make your way to the Silver Mine mountain bike trails.
Cultural & Historical interest
De Post Huys Or (the post house), is the oldest building on the Falsebay coast, it is situated on Main Rd Muizenberg.
The SA Police Museum Has an impressive display of the battle of Muizenberg, and is situated next door to De Post Huys.
Rhodes Cottage Purchased by Cecil John Rhodes in 1899 to enjoy his summer holidays in Muizenberg.
The Natale Labia Museum Built in the 1930s in a unique Venetian style on the site of an old British military battery named “The Fort”. Houses some lovely pieces and is a satellite of the South African National Gallery.
The Masque Theatre The theatre has recently been renovated and offers some fine local productions.
