This 4 star (TGCSA rated) guesthouse is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac on the northern slope of the hill overlooking the town, harbour and bay, with the Outeniqua Mountains forming the backdrop to a view "to die for". The guesthouse is 70 meters above sea level and 460 meters away from the water’s edge. According to Police statistics, Mossel Bay was the safest town in South Africa in 2007. Because we are situated three streets above the main road, where many of the restaurants are situated, guests have the option of walking there or making use of a free shuttle service.
This spacious and excellently finished guest house offers spacious light and airy accommodation, with great views over looking Mossel Bay, the rooms are named after fish Tuna, Sailfish and Marlin, each having their own individual colour scheme. All rooms are very spacious with full on suite facilities. The Sailfish room has its own access to the balcony and excellent sea view.
The balcony of the Guest house is well constructed and roomy enough for everyone to enjoy, facing true north across the bay it offers an excellent vantage point from which to enjoy a meal or a drink, whilst enjoying a braai; which is built into the balcony area.
Accommodation & Facilities
This spacious and excellently finished guest house offers spacious light and airy accommodation, with great views over looking Mossel Bay, the rooms are named after fish Tuna, Sailfish and Marlin, each having their own individual colour scheme. All rooms are very spacious with full on suite facilities. The Sailfish room has its own access to the balcony and excellent sea view.
Two bedrooms have full sea views, while the third has a garden view. The bedrooms are equipped with extra length single/king size beds, top of the range mattresses and percale linen. Air conditioning, dstv, mini safes, fridges (stocked on request) and full en-suite bathrooms are standard.
Leading from the dining area is a lounge and a partly covered deck (smoking area), both overlooking the bay, for use by the guests.
Outdoor Facilities
The Southern Right whales visit Mossel Bay between Apr & Oct., guests can watch them frolic while relaxing on the deck. Schools of dolphins regularly pass. The Seal island, provide the food source for the Great White Sharks. Pleasure trips around the seal island, which take about 2 hours, sightings of great white sharks are possible in 40% of these cruises. For the bold guests, Shark cage dives are available.
For hikers, the St. Blaize trail is an easy 15km walk all along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Day safaris at Botlierskop which can include game drives, elephant back rides & picnics, bush walks and meals at the fireplace restaurant can be arranged.
Mossel Bay golf Club, where you can sea the sea from every tea and Pinnacle Point Golf and Casino are 5 and 10 minutes drive away respectively. Tee off times can be arranged at special rates. For the more energetic, bungee jumping, abseiling in the bay or going on chartered fishing trips can be arranged.
Sporting & Leisure Activities
For hikers, the St. Blaize trail is an easy walk all along the cliffs overlooking the ocean and the duration can be determined according to the hiker’s need up to about 15 kilometers.
Mossel Bay golf Club, where you can sea the sea from every tea and Pinnacle Point Golf and Casino Resort, which was voted one of the 10 best new courses in the world, are 5 and 10 minutes drive away respectively. Tee off times can be arranged at special rates. For the more energetic, bungee jumping from the Gouritz river bridge, abseiling in the bay or going on chartered fishing trips can be arranged.
The Outeniqua Choo tjoe is one of Africa’s great experiences. It begins at the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George – with it’s eclectic collection of old locomotives, historic coaches, vintage cars and unusual trucks – and ends at the Dias Museum Complex in Mossel Bay – with it’s Maritime Museum, Shell Museum, Braille trail and famous Old Post Office Tree.
Day safaris at Botlierskop (Best Game & Nature Reserve Winner 2007) which can include game drives, elephant back rides & picnics, bush walks and meals at the fireplace restaurant can be arranged.
The Garden Route Casino is ten minutes drive away for those who get the urge to try their luck at striking it rich. The above are but a few of the interesting activities offered at this beautiful sea side town established in 1488.
Cultural & Historical interest
This beautiful sea side town Mossel Bay was established in 1488 when Bartolomeu Dias sailed into Bay. We have numerous museams which provide fascinating stories.
From the oldest records of modern human behaviour to cutting edge technology; from Khoi-San herders to European traders - the history of Mossel Bay is a microcosm of the history of South Africa itself.
Vasco da Gama called in during 1497 and who named the place Aguada de Sao Bras (the watering place of St Blaize. In 1500, Pedro d'Ataide sought shelter here after losing much of his fleet in a storm.
The Pinnacle Point Caves in Mossel Bay, have dramatically pushed history of mordern man back to more than 160, 000 years ago.
